The Arcade Talks : Video Game Avatars and our Queer Bodies

March 20th | 19:30 - 21:00

Another month, another edition of our networking event for gaming professionals and enthusiast alike. In march we will be hosting Niki Haringsma, an artist, researcher and published author interested in how queer people recognise themselves playing videogames.

During his talk, Niki will answer the following questions: Do avatars relate to our transgender bodies? Can attribute sliders help us explore being gay, non-binary, asexual, intersex? When we control a character throughout a game’s story, how do we relate when a hero suddenly learns about their deep, dark, secret identity?

After his presentation you will get a chance to ask him questions and participate in our gamified networking session. As you can see, during our talks we focus on gaming from a wide arrange of perspectives.

This is a great opportunity to meet fellow gaming experts/addicts and expand your network. And as Niki is full of knowledge, that day you will go to bed wiser, for sure.
