Marvel Phase Four Episode 1

The MCU Future: Episode 1

Reading time: 3 minutes

Welcome to a new series! As big Marvel fans we feel it’s our duty to keep you informed on Marvel Cinematic Universe news, predictions and opinions. We’re eager to tell you about our favourites, upcoming characters and more.

Over the past decade we’ve been treated with what has been an amazing journey across the MCU. And wow…have we seen some cinematic holiness. Marvel kicked off with Iron Man in Phase One in 2008, the movie being the first in what is called the ‘Infinity Saga’. Phase Two included blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 and Phase Three showed us a strange kind of ‘doctor’ in 2016. The franchise succeeded in what no other had ever tryed; creating a cohesive CU, featuring multiple series, major crossovers, all while maintaining continuity. Over the course of 11 years an unbelievable 22 movies hit theaters, in which Marvel rewrote history with one of the biggest phenomenons in pop culture history. But to all good things come an end…. right?

Well, not quite! Although Marvel hasn’t officially announced their new movie phase, the franchise already confirmed multiple movies coming up over the next few years. These are the ones we’re most excited about.

Spider-man: Far From Home I July 5, 2019

Surprise! Far From Home isn’t actually the first Phase Four movie, but is set to be the true end of Phase Three. Jon Watts is back in the director’s seat, as suspected after his last success with Homecoming, and it’s been confirmed that Peter Parker’s story will pick up minutes after the end of Avengers: Endgame.

Parker will be assisted by MCU icon Nick Fury during a somewhat ‘troubled’ school trip in Europe. Marvel will be introducing a new character as well, Mysterio, played by Demolition actor Jake Gyllenhaal. And here’s where it gets good. Mysterio seems to be coming from another Earth. Yupp.. That’s right. Marvel just opened the multiverse doors! Check the trailer and find out what Peter’s vacation looks like.

Black Widow

She played supporting roles since her first appearance, but she’s one of the earliest Avengers members! Even after 9 movies there isn’t much to go on Natasha’s background. Fans have been waiting for a Black Widow movie for years now, and it looks like their questions will finally be answered in Marvel’s Phase Four. Will Scarlett be taking on the part in this origin-to-be, once again?

Release dates are unknown and will probably remain unknown for a while. The studio hired filmmaker Cate Shortland as director, who isn’t known for blockbuster movies (yet).

The Eternals

The Eternals on Screengeek.net

Expectations are high for this new installment, bringing a race of super beings to the CU, created by the alien Celestials. The beings, who lived on Earth and shaped its history and civilizations, evolved into powerful man and women. The Celestials intended the Eternals to be defenders of Earth and fight their destructive counterparts, the Deviants. Our well known purple friend Thanos was first created a member of the Eternals of Titan.

Writer/artist Jack Kirby first brought them to life with their first appareance in The Eternals #1 (July 1976) and Marvel Studios now hired Chloe Zhoa to make the movie. Angelina Jolie and Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden will be starring in The Eternals.

That’s it for episode 1! We’ll be back with more Phase Four  updates, speculations and predictions.

Submachine: A Game Series for Adventurers

You are alone in a basement. And you need to get out. Simple, eh? Maybe not. What begun as just one entry by Mateusz Skutnik, became a fan-favourite series in the indie game scene, especially for the lovers of adventure games. The player needs to use items in an “escape room” environment to solve puzzles and find their way out of the basement they are trapped in. At the same time, despite the lack of other characters, you constantly have a feeling that you are not alone. Add to that the use of ambient music (à la “Myst” series), and you make this a game (and subsequent series) a timeless, atmospheric experience. The series started in  mid-00’s, and slowly the creator would release new entries every now and..

Bambi Meets Godzilla. Yes, Really.

When you think of classic animation, what comes to mind first? Probably, iconic movies such as The Lion King or Toy Story, right? But what about another animation classic, Bambi Meets Godzilla. Wait, what? In 1969, Marv Newland made this student film, while experimenting with animation. The plot is very simple: Bambi (yes, the deer) is just chilling, when suddenly he gets stepped by Godzilla. That’s it. The 90-second long clip is absurd, hilarious, but also innovative for its time. It has even been considered as worthy of preservation by the Academy Foundation (those people who hand out the Oscars), and received a couple of sequels too. Early animation was crazy. Marv Newland went on to make a lot more animated films and series (including some in the..

The World’s Most Expensive Game

There are many games on the Steam platform that can be quite expensive. Especially if you add DLC for skins, characters, and stages, the amount you need to spend might reach thousands of euro. But what is the price you need to pay if you are looking for Steam’s most expensive single, standalone game? Well, one of the newest games available on the platform, The Hidden and Unknown goes for a whooping 1.949,09€! No, your eyes are not deceiving you. The game was developed by ProX, a person or studio (we are not sure) famous for bringing you…eh…The Hidden and Unknown. That’s it. That is the only game they have ever released on Steam. We haven’t played the game (obviously), but there are some walkthroughs on YouTube about..
