E3 Review 2018

Our buddy Alex at ASNGAMING.net was kind enough to share his wrap-up on this year’s E3 conference with us. The guy is everywhere at the same time, always busy as a bee, writing about games, filming events and game tech reviews. Next to video games in all shapes and sizes, he enjoys the bright side of life: food, sleep and beers (go figure!). And he filmed a special about The Arcade Hotel.

Do us a solid and share some love with him on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Insta and Twitch.

Thanks Alex for this epic summary!

There was an abundance of gameplay of games that we already knew they were going to appear. Spider-man, Tomb Raider, Death Stranding, Assassin’s Creed, you name it. Fortunately almost all positive. Do you think you have missed something? Then you are at the right address here! Hereby we give you a complete overview of the most important things!

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Ubisoft has revealed Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey. The game is set in ancient Greece and according to the developers, it is a game with many RPG elements. For example, for the first time in an Assassin’s Creed game, you must choose between a male or female character at the beginning of the game.

Also new are the dialog options that you will have during conversations. The choices you make undoubtedly will have a small impact on the story. Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey tells your story more than previous titles, according to Ubisoft.

Death Stranding

Hideo Kojima has brought Death Stranding into the light again. With a new gameplay trailer there is still nothing to understand but it still looks awesome. Let us know what you think the game is all about. We do not know for sure …

Fallout 76

Bethesda dropped a huge amount of information about Fallout 76 during E3. Let’s get straight to the point: the game will be released this year! Fallout 76 is already launching on 14 November.

The developer has also finally announced what exactly we can expect from Fallout 76. It becomes an online, open-world, survival game. It is a prequel to all other Fallout games and takes place in West Virginia.

It is also the biggest Fallout title ever, no less than four times larger than Fallout 4. You can choose whether you play the game solo or with friends.

You play as one of the chosen ones who can stay in Vault 76 for 24 years. On ‘Reclamation Day’ everyone can go outside and you step into the big open world. This world has six different areas, each with their own flora and fauna, lots of loot to collect and adventures to experience.

The focus of the game is therefore on interaction with other players. So there are hardly any NPCs, everyone you meet is a real person who plays the game. Fallout 76 runs on dedicated servers.

You are completely free to do what you want. There are nuclear weapons to fire and camps to build. All progress you make is transferred with you from server to server.

Fallout 76 gets a beta, but its release date is not yet known. The game also gets an awesome Collector’s Edition with a functioning Fallout helmet. This contains a lamp and a voice distorter.

The Elder Scrolls VI

In the meantime, Bethesda has also announced The Elder Scrolls VI. The game is due in a few years but, hey, we have had to wait for years just for a trailer. This can not spoil the fun because what a beauty!

Beyond Good and Evil 2

Ubisoft has unveiled a new trailer for Beyond Good & Evil 2. In the trailer we see how a space pirate ship is attacked by another ship under the direction of a younger Jade. Some gameplay was also shared in the background, but these images have not yet appeared online.

The developers are planning to make the game together with fans. In collaboration with HitRECord they hope to bring unique artwork and music to the game. It is therefore possible that your work will appear in Beyond Good & Evil.

Battlefield V

We now know that Battlefield V is set in the Second World War. That DICE / EA takes it with a grain of salt is clear. Many women play with it, which is not uncommon, but in the wrong setting. Also historical details do not match, such as clothing, weapons and vehicles. Fans seem to fall over and over again. Also the new announcement from EA is not very good. They have indicated during the EA Play press conference that there will be a Battle Royale mode. Players get more freedom about how they play the game. It becomes possible to dive through windows and fences, vehicles and artillery can be moved across the battlefield and tanks can now flatten entire houses. You will also be able to adjust the appearance of your character more than ever before. The die-hard fans, and yes, me too, are a bit disappointed and wonder in large numbers if the entire look and feel of Battlefield does not disappear.

Still an end with a bright spot: the story of the game will be told again in War Stories. The focus is on heroes who have personally changed the world. Good news for the consumer: the game does not have Expansion Pass or loot boxes! So perhaps EA cares about us?

FIFA 19 is all about the Champions League and the Europa League. The big championships are processed in almost every mode of the game. FIFA 19 launches on September 28 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

It will be easier to play friendly 5-on-5 games in FIFA’s Kick Off mode. You can even challenge your friends on specific skills. Of course, the gameplay is also improved. Players move more naturally and the First Touch system also works better, according to an EA spokesman.

> Quick interruption: It would be stupid not to use this to promote our monthly FIFA Tournament. It’s bright, shiny, co-hosted with our friends AJAX eSports and happens every month. And yes, you’re missing out. Anyways, back to the article…

EA has dropped a lot of new information about Anthem at their EA Play press conference. A new trailer was shown and even a short gameplay demo. The game launches on February 22, 2019.

In an interview with Biowares general manager Casey Hudson, executive producer Mark Darrah and lead writer Cathleen Rootsaert, EA announces that Anthem has been designed to get new storylines and content updates in the coming years. The world in which you play constantly changes and everyone experiences the same thing at the same time. It is therefore up to the player to choose whether he plays with others or alone.

The story is so that all choices depend solely on you. You have the choice to play the full story alone, but according to developers this makes the game more difficult. The game has no loot boxes, but in-game purchases. These are purely cosmetic items. and you have complete control over what you do or do not buy.

We also learned a lot about Anthem’s background. The world in which you play is left behind by gods and their tools are left behind. The game revolves around the ‘Anthem of Creation’, a special song that is misused by evil creatures.

You as a player have the choice between four different types of Javelins, a special armor that you need to survive outside the safe city walls. You can choose from the Ranger, Colossus, Interceptor and Storm Javelin. Because it is only a suit that you wear, you can switch freely when you want to try something different. Anthem also offers the freedom to customize your Javelin the way you want it. From the color to certain characteristics, you have control over how you look.

Halo Infinite

Microsoft has opened its E3 press conference with a new Halo. The game is called Halo Infinite and, as 343 Industries promised, Master Chief is central this time. Besides a new trailer, nothing is known about the game yet.

Kingdom Hearts

Kingdom Hearts officially comes to Xbox One. In a new trailer that was unveiled during E3 2018, we see how our Disney heroes meet the characters of Frozen. The game launches on January 29 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Gears of War 5

Microsoft has unveiled Gears of War 5. The new part of the franchise has immediately received a new trailer. Little is known about the story, but a number of new weapons and enemies can be seen in the trailer. An exact release date has not yet been revealed, only that the game will be released in 2019.

Cyberpunk: 2077

To top it all off a great press conference Microsoft has shown a new trailer for Cyberpunk: 2077. We still know pretty little about the game, but the tone of the game is now slightly clearer. Cyberpunk: 2077 still has no release date and chances are that we will not get it yet.

Doom Eternal

Doom gets a sequel! Doom Eternal brings hell to earth and promises more action and monsters to crack. More information about the game will be revealed during QuakeCon.

Skull & Bones

Pirate game Skull & Bones has received two brand new trailers. One of the trailers is completely cinematic and shows that piracy is dying after death. The other trailer contains only gameplay and shows a lot of new features.

In Skull & Bones you get your own ‘hideout’. Here you can prepare your ship for long journeys at sea. When you take the water, however, the game really starts.

Because Skull & Bones has a shared open world, you can encounter other players while you’re hunting for treasures. You then have the choice to make friends or enemies. Do you fight together and share the lot, or do you prefer to keep everything to yourself?

The Division 2

The Division 2 continues where the first part stopped. The game gets raids for eight people and a new progression system that actually only starts when you have reached the highest level. From that moment on you can specialize in one of three classes with unique skills.

The Division 2 also receives three free DLC episodes in the first year. It is not yet known what kind of content these updates contain exactly. The Division 2 launches on March 15, 2019 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The Last of Us: part 2

We have the ultimate gameplay of The Last of Us: Part 2. Sony started its press conference with an extensive trailer for the long-awaited game. One thing is certain, the tone is a lot darker.

What is immediately noticeable is that you play as Ellie. You did this briefly in the story and DLC of the first game, but it seems that Ellie really plays the leading part in part two. What this means for Joel is still unknown.

In the gameplay trailer we see stealth elements and quite a bit of combat. The fast menu that is controlled with the d-pad is back. There is also no clicker to see in the trailer, all enemies are human.

Naughty Dog plays with our emotions again. A release date is not forthcoming, but the gameplay keeps us sweet for the time being.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

There it is finally: gameplay of Nintendo’s new Super Smash Bros. title. Besides the fact that every fighter ever from the Smash series is playable, the game now also has an official name. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches Nintendo Switch later this year.

With more than sixty characters, this is Nintendo’s biggest crossover in gaming history. Take a quick look at who is playable and what’s different in the video below. Even Ridley is now officially a character!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also supports the old Nintendo GameCube controller.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is for sale on Nintendo Switch from December 7th.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Ghost of Tsushima

Marvel’s Spider-Man

Sony has shown a new gameplay trailer from Marvel’s Spider-Man. The title of Insomniac Games is already in September, so it was high time that we got to see more. Submachine: A Game Series for Adventurers

You are alone in a basement. And you need to get out. Simple, eh? Maybe not. What begun as just one entry by Mateusz Skutnik, became a fan-favourite series in the indie game scene, especially for the lovers of adventure games. The player needs to use items in an “escape room” environment to solve puzzles and find their way out of the basement they are trapped in. At the same time, despite the lack of other characters, you constantly have a feeling that you are not alone. Add to that the use of ambient music (à la “Myst” series), and you make this a game (and subsequent series) a timeless, atmospheric experience. The series started in  mid-00’s, and slowly the creator would release new entries every now and..

Bambi Meets Godzilla. Yes, Really.

When you think of classic animation, what comes to mind first? Probably, iconic movies such as The Lion King or Toy Story, right? But what about another animation classic, Bambi Meets Godzilla. Wait, what? In 1969, Marv Newland made this student film, while experimenting with animation. The plot is very simple: Bambi (yes, the deer) is just chilling, when suddenly he gets stepped by Godzilla. That’s it. The 90-second long clip is absurd, hilarious, but also innovative for its time. It has even been considered as worthy of preservation by the Academy Foundation (those people who hand out the Oscars), and received a couple of sequels too. Early animation was crazy. Marv Newland went on to make a lot more animated films and series (including some in the..

The World’s Most Expensive Game

There are many games on the Steam platform that can be quite expensive. Especially if you add DLC for skins, characters, and stages, the amount you need to spend might reach thousands of euro. But what is the price you need to pay if you are looking for Steam’s most expensive single, standalone game? Well, one of the newest games available on the platform, The Hidden and Unknown goes for a whooping 1.949,09€! No, your eyes are not deceiving you. The game was developed by ProX, a person or studio (we are not sure) famous for bringing you…eh…The Hidden and Unknown. That’s it. That is the only game they have ever released on Steam. We haven’t played the game (obviously), but there are some walkthroughs on YouTube about..
