Even the Best Need Rest!

As of today, we are an official partner of Ajax eSport. Yes, that’s the world-famous soccer club from Amsterdam and one of the world’s leading FIFA teams.
WOOHHHHOOOO!!!!
Let me say that again:

WOOOOOHHHOOOOOOOO!!

Working with one of the top eSports teams in the world is a real pleasure and honor for us.
We will be providing rooms for their all-star eSports Athletes when they have the pleasure of visiting Amsterdam to kick some international ass — Even the best need their rest!

With us hosting our own regular FIFA tournaments and Ajax being the best eSports FIFA team the partnership was a no-brainer.

The Arcade embraces video gaming in all it’s diversity and glory, from precious retro games up to the most modern consoles and developments the industry has published. All rooms at The Arcade are equipped with NVIDIA Shield TVs and retro consoles as well as Sennheiser gaming headsets.
In the lobby, they offer retro gaming on old analog TVs as well as Amsterdams first full-on Game Room, appointed with six high-end gaming PCs, a console corner, and a VR corner. So pretty much everything that a gamer would wish for.
But truth told, there’s a big difference between the theory and planning and then actually having Pro gamers come by and test your set up. So having a brand like Ajax commit to us is an exciting acknowledgment and honestly makes us burst with pride!

In the future international Ajax, eSport Players will stay at The Arcade, and Ajax will be hosting Meet & Greets at The Arcade as well as training sessions with the Ajax eSports players.

What can we say, we can’t wait for this to get started!

Submachine: A Game Series for Adventurers

You are alone in a basement. And you need to get out. Simple, eh? Maybe not. What begun as just one entry by Mateusz Skutnik, became a fan-favourite series in the indie game scene, especially for the lovers of adventure games. The player needs to use items in an “escape room” environment to solve puzzles and find their way out of the basement they are trapped in. At the same time, despite the lack of other characters, you constantly have a feeling that you are not alone. Add to that the use of ambient music (à la “Myst” series), and you make this a game (and subsequent series) a timeless, atmospheric experience. The series started in  mid-00’s, and slowly the creator would release new entries every now and..

Bambi Meets Godzilla. Yes, Really.

When you think of classic animation, what comes to mind first? Probably, iconic movies such as The Lion King or Toy Story, right? But what about another animation classic, Bambi Meets Godzilla. Wait, what? In 1969, Marv Newland made this student film, while experimenting with animation. The plot is very simple: Bambi (yes, the deer) is just chilling, when suddenly he gets stepped by Godzilla. That’s it. The 90-second long clip is absurd, hilarious, but also innovative for its time. It has even been considered as worthy of preservation by the Academy Foundation (those people who hand out the Oscars), and received a couple of sequels too. Early animation was crazy. Marv Newland went on to make a lot more animated films and series (including some in the..

The World’s Most Expensive Game

There are many games on the Steam platform that can be quite expensive. Especially if you add DLC for skins, characters, and stages, the amount you need to spend might reach thousands of euro. But what is the price you need to pay if you are looking for Steam’s most expensive single, standalone game? Well, one of the newest games available on the platform, The Hidden and Unknown goes for a whooping 1.949,09€! No, your eyes are not deceiving you. The game was developed by ProX, a person or studio (we are not sure) famous for bringing you…eh…The Hidden and Unknown. That’s it. That is the only game they have ever released on Steam. We haven’t played the game (obviously), but there are some walkthroughs on YouTube about..
